At Mobico Group, we recognise the importance of wellbeing and are working to create a supportive and open culture that puts wellbeing and mental health at its core and helps our people feel better, stronger and more positive.

We want our colleagues to feel engaged, energised and supported at work and we provide them with the right tools and resources to support their wellbeing outside of work.

We know that embedding wellbeing into all aspects of our employees’ experience means that colleagues can thrive at work and at home.

Our ‘Be Well’ strategy

Our Be Well approach to wellbeing has three pillars: mental, physical, and social. Be Well prioritises the wellbeing of our employees and connects us across the Group. We recognise how important wellbeing is and that as a responsible business our focus on employee wellbeing is the right thing to do.

Through Be Well we are encouraging colleagues to get involved in our activities, access wellbeing resources and training and share ideas and great practice from across our businesses. We join up across our group at key dates during the year to ensure that wellbeing has a global focus and platform.

‘Be Well’:
  • is part of our People Strategy and is underpinned by our Wellbeing Strategy, our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy and our Global Safety Standard for Wellbeing
  • is championed at the top of the business by our Executive Chair and our divisional leaders
  • aims to help our colleagues make positive changes to improve their mental, physical, and emotional health and ensure they have support when they need it.

Our partnership with Mental Health UK

We are partnered with Mental Health UK, the charity for everyone’s mental health. It exists to challenge the causes of poor mental health and give people the tools they need to live their best possible lives at home and at work.

Working with Mental Health UK provides us with the right support, knowledge, insight, ideas and practical help as we continue to develop our wellbeing approach.

Our Wellbeing Strategy

Proactive wellbeing and early support

We monitor wellbeing risks through engagement, 1-1 check-ins and management oversight.

All Mobico Group managers have undertaken e-learning modules covering a range of wellbeing topics such as Managing Remote Workers, Managing Stress, Avoiding Workplace Conflict.

Our Board members and line managers have undertaken mental health training to support employee mental health, and to identify early on any mental health problems or issues and identify necessary support.

This training includes our position on bullying and harassment, about which we also brief employees, and focuses on psychological safety. We want everyone to feel safe and able to speak up.

In addition, our Board members receive regular updates on wellbeing activity and progress.

Making wellbeing part of our everyday

Mobico Group has introduced training and development at leadership level and has rolled out further to line managers to ensure our managers have access to the right tools and resources to help them develop a culture of wellbeing.

We have recruited wellbeing ambassadors who help support and foster wellbeing initiatives and events, bring our wellbeing strategy to life and actively promote mental health across our workplaces. Dedicated training courses for ambassadors are provided by Mental Health UK.

We feature wellbeing strongly on our Group intranet, providing our strategy and policy along with Mental Health UK resources and support information. Our Corporate team receives regular ‘Friday Feeds’ which suggest sessions they may wish to join and highlight new resources and campaigns. Our regular 1-1 employee gatherings aim to improve employee communications and confidence, and are built on our Be Well approach.

In addition to providing Mental Health UK resources, our divisions have a wide range of offerings for colleagues including Employee Assistance Programmes and, in some of our businesses, an OpenUp app that provides live 1-1 support, along with Masterclasses, group sessions and articles. Our UK Employees also have access to GP Hero - a GP service which cuts waiting times allowing for instant access to advice and prescriptions from a registered GP.

A fairer workplace

In the UK, we have introduced the Living Wage, the only UK wage rate based on living costs. This is to ensure that employees are treated fairly and their earnings reflect the real cost of living,

We introduced a groupwide flexible working policy to ensure employees achieve a work life balance. This provides a number of opportunities designed to support performance while recognising the realities of modern life.

Wherever possible, we seek to promote from within and provide opportunities for promotion, job changes and development to support people to be the best they can be.

Our career lifecycle supports colleagues at all stages:

  • we make any necessary adjustments for interviews
  • a health questionnaire is provided during onboarding
  • we provide flexible work opportunities
  • we ensure new starters are aware of the resources available to them including our Employee Assistance Programmes, OpenUp, wellbeing ambassadors and mental health training and learning opportunities
  • we assess workloads and pressure through regular checkins and 1-1s
  • we provide guidance to managers on managing remote workers to ensure they feel included and supported
  • absence training is provided to managers to ensure we deal with this sensitively
  • we operate phased returns to work
  • occupational health assessments are carried out
  • redundancy support is available and we always seek to provide reasonable packages
