Wedriveu And Municipality Of Princeton Celebrate Expansion Of Princeton Loop

Fare-free transit bus system strengthens community connections

WeDriveU, part of Mobico Group and a leader in shared mobility solutions for communities, campuses, and workplaces, has congratulated the Municipality of Princeton on the expansion of the Princeton Loop - its municipal bus system designed to improve connectivity between residences, businesses, and local services. WeDriveU has operated the service since 2021.

As noted in a Municipality announcement, “What started as a single neighborhood bus is now growing into a more comprehensive transit system serving Princeton residents, workers, and visitors.”

WeDriveU joined partners and stakeholders at a ribbon-cutting and ride-along event to mark the expansion. The event, hosted by the Municipality of Princeton and Experience Princeton, brought together a range of local and regional leaders.

Attendees included NJ State Senator Andrew Zwicker, Mayor Mark Freda, Council President Michelle Pirone Lambros and other Council members, Mercer County Executive Dan Benson, NJ Transit CEO Kris Kolluri, as well as representatives from Experience Princeton, Princeton University, and other invited guests.

Council President Michelle Pirone Lambros, who led Princeton’s recent transit study and helped guide the development of the Loop’s expanded service, highlighted the initiative’s significance for both the local economy and community.

“A robust and accessible transportation system is essential to a thriving local economy,” she said. “The Princeton Loop Express strengthens connections between our neighborhoods, our centres of commerce and our regional transit, making it easier for residents, employees, and visitors to support Princeton’s businesses, cultural events and attractions, and engage with everything our community has to offer.”

The expanded Princeton Loop now includes both Loop Local and Loop Express services, offering free, ADA-compliant, wheelchair-accessible transport across Princeton, alongside a faster express route linking key stops.
